This may sound a little like that of Pokemon; the fact that certain daemons possess the ability to transmigrate (otherwise known as evolve) when they mature. These daemons can't wait to shed their old skin and jump out reborn as new daemons (the experience and skill level both restart from fresh), but are stronger and more powerful than its former self.
This Anima daemon, Barbetta, acts as a classic example of a daemon transmigration. All Ayakashi Ghost Agents begin their story with this daemon in their possession (given by the tutorial story mode):
